Our Goals

The overall goal of Fixed in Uganda is “To increase the active involvement of Ugandan ICT professionals in global FOSS communities.”

There is a lot to gain of being an active member of a FOSS project. First of all, interacting with ICT peers across the globe is a great learning experience. Secondly, creating an active contributing online presence will greatly increase the value of any ICT professional. Thirdly, eventually, a lot of paid FOSS jobs are international. Once established as a valuable contributor, there is a chance of doing paid jobs on the global market.

Fixed in Uganda will create a big incentive and awareness for Ugandan ICT professionals about getting involved in FOSS projects. It will explain how to get involved and what the benefits are. And it will award people who do take the step and get involved.

Fixed in Uganda is a Ugandan initiative to start with, but has great potential to be rolled out over the African continent in the future.
